Discover the real problem
I work with leaders and front-line users to learn the process, constraints, data, and outcome that matter.
I’m Cody Marcel, a forward deployed engineer in the Denver metro area. I work alongside customer teams to find the real constraint, build the right system, deploy it in production, and stay close until it works.
Forward deployed engineering connects customer needs to hands-on delivery. I can lead discovery with operators, map the workflow, design the architecture, write the code, connect the data, ship the system, and measure what changed.
I work with leaders and front-line users to learn the process, constraints, data, and outcome that matter.
I create production software around the customer’s current systems, security needs, and operating reality.
I own the path through integration, testing, rollout, feedback, and the next useful iteration.
Human-in-the-loop AI, process orchestration, finite state machines, integrations, and approval-gated actions.
Distributed query processing, high-scale data, multi-tenant databases, archival, and system performance.
APIs, Python services, web and mobile clients, cloud deployment, observability, testing, and operations.
On-site interviews, workflow mapping, fast prototypes, architecture decisions, and delivery plans.
Experience delivering systems across financial services, pharmaceuticals, enterprise SaaS, and education.
I run a software company and a Denver STEM education business, with direct responsibility for product and operations.
My career has combined deep platform engineering with work close to users and business operations.
Building the BOS business application platform and operating iCode Cherry Creek, a 17-person STEM education organization.
Led teams across distributed data and enterprise products. Scaled systems to billions of records, earned nine US patents, and spoke at Dreamforce.
Delivered trading, integration, test, and data systems for Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Bear Stearns, Pfizer, and other enterprise customers.
Built the operational discipline and field mindset I bring to customer environments today.
Bring me in when the problem crosses product, engineering, data, and operations—and someone needs to own the result across those lines.
A strategic customer needs an integration, workflow, or product adaptation delivered in their environment.
A promising AI idea needs real data, guardrails, human review, deployment, and measurable business use.
The need is clear, the solution is not, and progress requires discovery plus senior hands-on engineering.
I’m based in the Denver metro area and willing to travel for discovery, deployment, and customer-site delivery.
